Focussed Support for Junior & Leaving Cert Success

My work with secondary students centres on Junior and Leaving Cert exam preparation, while also supporting students in earlier years to build strong foundations in Irish. By developing confidence, fluency, and exam awareness early, students are far better prepared when they reach their exam years.

Strong Emphasis on Spoken Irish & Fluency Development

A major focus of all lessons is spoken Irish, as confidence in speaking supports every part of the course.

A key focus of my teaching is Leaving Cert oral preparation at both Higher and Ordinary Level, aiming to help students feel at ease and confident when answering questions. Students practise answering oral questions naturally, building useful vocabulary and structures that can be adapted across topics.

Exam-Year Preparation (Junior & Leaving Cert)

For exam-year students, lessons focus in detail on all components of the state exams:

• Oral exam preparation (Higher & Ordinary Level)
• Listening comprehension
• Reading comprehension
• Written work and exam-style questions

Students are encouraged to use exam technique-how to interpret questions, structure answers clearly, manage time effectively, and understand how marks are awarded.

Early Preparation for Non-Exam Years

Students in earlier secondary years are supported through structured, forward-thinking preparation, helping them:

• Build confidence in spoken Irish
• Develop strong language foundations
• Gain familiarity with exam-style questions and expectations

This approach reduces pressure later on and allows students to enter exam years feeling capable and prepared rather than overwhelmed.

All lessons are adapted to the individual student’s level, goals, and learning style. My aim is to create a supportive learning environment where students feel encouraged, challenged, and confident as they work towards achieving their full potential in Irish.
